September was a busy month with lots of noise and dust but there isn’t an awful lot to show for it as all the work has been hidden under floorboards and behind walls.
The good news is that the electrics are almost finished. We’ve got lots of new plug sockets (which are no longer in the skirting boards), new light switches and preparation is underway for the smoke detectors. Having spoken to the building regs inspector we’re actually going to put more smoke detectors in so that we can keep the original doors in all the bedrooms. The other alternative was to put thick fire doors in but we think the smoke detectors is a much better route for a number of reasons.
The final job for now is the alarm system but that is all on track and then we just need to buy the furniture for the plug sockets and light switches.
The plumper has also been busy at work and we’re getting close to having the new heating system installed in the new bathroom…..just in time as the temperature is dropping!
