I’ve mentioned it several times but one of the main goals of the year is to get our new ‘real’ fire in so that we don’t have to go through another freezing cold winter. Things are finally moving in the right direction and we recently had a visit from Feature Fireplaces to install the flue linings into the living room chimney and the one in the master bedroom. I was at work when they arrived but The Boyfriend said that the first one went in really easily (in about 40mins) but the second one took all day as there was a bend in the chimney. The only way they could get in was to knock a hole in the wall – luckily it didn’t make much difference to the state of our walls!
Other than the hole in the wall there is not much to see of all the money we have spent on the fireplace so far but we did have a very exciting delivery this week. I came home to find this van outside the house from Marble Granite Craftsmen delivering our fire surround.
We’re not ready to install it just yet so it doesn’t really do it justice just leaving it on the floor but hopefully it will look good when we finally get it in. The Boyfriend took charge of the order so I’m a little concerned about how big it is but I’ve been told it will be fine! The guy who delivered it was amazing and full of loads of helpful tips about how to install it and look after it – he was clearly very passionate about his job and wanted to make sure we looked after his handiwork.
I can’t wait to get it installed now and have one of our first jobs ticked off the to-do list.
