WORK IN PROGRESS

Things are definitely progressing upstairs and while The Boyfriend is worried it is all going too slowly, a quick look back at our photos shows just what’s been done in the last two weeks.

The plumber came in to take things off the walls and although it was only a few hours work, it definitely felt like things had changed.

1) The old gas fire is now out (and it looks like the chimney is lined)

2) The long radiator is off the wall (so we can put a new wall up one day)

Since then, The Boyfriend has done a brilliant job stripping back all the wallpaper.  We need to go and buy a ladder for the really tall wall that goes up the stairs but he’s made his way all the way down to the first floor landing.

IMG_0407We’ve had another visit from the builder, so are just waiting for a date that he can start and then things will really be underway.  The only knock back at the moment is the planning office.  The notice is now outside the house (which is exciting) but we’ve been told we need a visit from the Building Regulation department too…

About katerenovates

Hello and welcome to Kate Renovates - a blog about my attempts at renovation. The Husband and I have now been living in our house for four years and changes are being made slowly. It's an unloved Victorian townhouse that had been converted into two flats. Armed with a little bit of know-how and bags of enthusiasm, we have turned it back into one house and are transforming it into our home. Many of the original features remain but the flats had been rented out and so none of the rooms were in great shape. Luckily, it has a fully functioning kitchen and we recently finished the new bathroom and so things are getting more and more comfortable all the time. We're learning as we go and sharing our ups (and downs) on here as we try (fingers crossed) to bring the house back to life. I'd love to hear your thoughts on my blog or any tips you may have on our house project, so to contact me, please email katerenovates@gmail.com
